Set back off the high street down a narrow lane, this long established, cottage style restaurant oozes charm and character. Dating back to the 17th century, the current dining area is housed in what was once the scullery and back premises of Cupar's temperance hotel. Small rooms with low-beamed ceilings, candles and beechwood tables set the scene for informal dining in this family run concern. Based around the principle of cottage industry supplies, the sourcing of quality local raw ingredients is the prime focus, along with transforming them into interesting and unpretentious dishes. A hand written, modern Scottish menu changes almost daily and reflects a classical background with European styles and Mediterranean influences. Choose from a starter of pot roast breast of woodpigeon with a cassoulet of haricot beans and pancetta or a main course of a selection of local seafood served with steamed farm seakale on a langoustine butter sauce.
